Itryed this: SubpixelHinting - openSUSE-Community
I didnt like the result, so i removed that repo and installed again freetype2 and cairo from orginal suse repo. Now fonts look terrible. Is there something else i should do to restore orginal font rendering?
You can restore defaults in the control centre / system settings, depending if you use kde or gnome.
I have done that.
I have to say, i love openSUSE, but it has terrible font rendering. For some reason, distros like Mandriva have beautiful fonts out of box, but suse cant have same no matter what you do
I disagree - my fonts look better in SUSE than any distro I have used and better than windows too.
Have you access to a windows partition? If yes, copy the Fonts folder from \windows to your /home/user*
Open a terminal at /home/user*
And do this as su -
mv Fonts /usr/share/fonts/MSFonts
This my kde font settings
ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing
I dont use Windows. I have win fonts, it isnt issue. Issue is that fonts are blurry and have colour edges.
I’m going to hazard a guess you use kde, only going off the mention of Mandriva.
Have you tried my settings?
If you create a new user and use my settings, how is it?
I use KDE 4.4.x. Tryed every setting.
I have 3 different machines here now all have kde4.4.3 and if I set the settings the same on all, they all look the same.
Have you set the Anti-aliasing and DPI
What about your graphics device and setup?
