Good to read of your solid progress while I was offline. You’ve successfully bootstrapped the rpm/zypper core, chased down the remaining Leap 15.6 library mismatches, and got zypper back into a working state. Definitely the hardway (but not necessarily impossible). Now you should be able to finish with zypper dup to complete any package upgrading required.
I missed this - so now you have a working desktop, you can use Mrylyn (if desired) to add packages and update etc.
