My Bank tell me that I need this reader to download balance, etc. enquiries. This is a tar.gz file that they say is for for Linux. I assume that as I have libc6 it is OK for openSUSE. Does anyone have experience with this application? 
Such a compressed tar archive often contains a file called README or similar. That should contain instructions. You could read them and eventualy ask about them. Even posting it (partly) here as additional information (between CODE tags) when not too long.
