I run KDE 4.5 on 11.3 and i noticed that my mouse act a little.
If i click, sometimes it does two clicks at once. But i only press once.
Its a wireless mouse from logitech.
Haven’t really changed anything related to the mouse setting, but i wonder if its kde or if its my mouse.
Did anyone else have the same kind of issues?
Logitech mice are the best IMO, I had worn out about a half a dozen in the last dozen years (in many different machines). All of them (maybe except one, I’m not sure) because they started double-clicking the left button. So I’d guess you have a hardware problem.
Sometimes a compressed air dust-up (or some button knocking) may alleviate the problem, but usually it’s retirement time.
I had that issue earlier this year. I tried a different mouse, and the problem went away.
A mouse has a finite life time. After that the switch contacts don’t work as reliably.

it sure sounds like time to buy a new mouse…
(i’ve got a very nice Logitech laser wireless here which i will sell
you cheap, but be careful it because almost always sends a double left
click when i only want one…and, it is only three or four years old)

What if there were no hypothetical questions?
The wireless mouse behaviour that puzzled me for a while was the mouse moving cursor moving slowly (or not at all) in response to my movements of the mouse on the mouse pad. Mouse clicks were not working at times.
It turns out the problem was my own silliness.
For our landland telephone, we have a wireless transmitter in the apartment, such that we can carry the phone around to any room in the apartment. This portable phone is also a speaker phone, so its useful when 1st calling friends to setup a chat in Skype, or when chatting with my mother while maintaining her PC. But often when I put the phone down (next to the mouse) my mouse would stop working.
Finally the obvious sunk into my thick skull, that the wireless phone was interfering with the wireless mouse. … I then put the phone on the left side of my desk (with mouse on right side) and my problem went away. … Its funny sometimes the problems one encounters that are self inflicted. At least it can be in my case.

and, as you found, the amount of interference falls off rapidly when
the distance between devices increases…
but, i guess yours wasn’t actually a channel selection problem but a
localized rf harmonic coming from the (relatively) more powerful phone
signal…so, distance might be the only solution…(or, drop the phone
into a faraday cage <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t23iXhEiQUc>)…

Actually, my mouse is not that old. Maybe like 6 month or a little older.
Isn’t that a little to soon to be a hardware failure? How good are my chances to deal with logitech support if you are running linux?
But back to the original point. It seem then not a software problem rather a hardware problem. Good to know.
What mouse is a good replacement (logitech).

six months old, i guess it is still in warranty…replace it.

I checked on my mouse under windows. Surprisingly i does not have the same kind of behavior with the double click.
Is the driver for the mouse under linux generic or can you adjust the setting in some way to make more conform. That is, if the mouse is ok which i conclude at this point.
I will check with the logitech forum too, but not sure if they can handle linux questions. Never tried so far.
