strange lower frame rates under KDE 4.7.x

Hello!

The start looks fine …

elfring@Sonne:~> glxgears -v
Window x=0, y=0, width=300, height=300
GL_MAX_VIEWPORT_DIMS=4096/4096
GL_RENDERER   = GeForce 7800 GT/PCI/SSE2
GL_VERSION    = 2.1.2 NVIDIA 290.10
GL_VENDOR     = NVIDIA Corporation
Event: Expose
Event: ConfigureNotify
24705 frames in 5.0 seconds = 4940.913 FPS
32586 frames in 5.0 seconds = 6517.084 FPS
...

Now I stumble about small numbers like the following in my KDE 4.7.3 configuration under openSUSE 12.1 when this application window is maximised.

...
Event: Expose
Event: ConfigureNotify
3523 frames in 5.3 seconds = 663.377 FPS
2 frames in 6.8 seconds =  0.292 FPS
2 frames in 7.0 seconds =  0.287 FPS
...

Return to minimised window:

Event: Expose
Event: ConfigureNotify
2 frames in 5.1 seconds =  0.391 FPS
29710 frames in 5.0 seconds = 5941.923 FPS
...

The 3D graphics display can also become slow in an “test application” like MegaGlest 3.5.2 while the run time behaviour is completely smooth and snappy in other desktop environments like LXDE (also in full-screen mode with the resolution “1920x1080"”) when I switch to another session. Have you got any clues for the decrease of the execution speed that is easily visible?
Why do I get higher frame rates in the other desktop environments?

Regards,
Markus
