Strange login problem

Hi everyone,

I am using OpenSUSE 12.3 with XFCE DE . I have added opensuse machine to Windows domain and everything is working fine. I am able to login from SLIM DE if I give a correct password. Only problem is when I give a wrong password it shows me a blank desktop with cross(X) mark cursor.

When I check the slim log file the error is “slim: pam_authenticate() : Authentication service cannot retrieve authentication info.”

To login again I have to restart the computer.

Thanks in advance.

Is there a file named slim under /etc/pam.d? If so, post its contents.

The content of slim in pam.d is

#%PAM-1.0
auth include common-auth
account include common-account
password include common-password
session required pam_loginuid.so
session include common-session
session sufficient /lib/security/pam_lsass.so

Looks fine to me. What’s in /var/log/auth.log?
