Strange ATI driver

So I finally sort of got the newest ati driver working for my agp x1650pro. Everything looks great and video playback is as good as it’s ever been but when I try to run #glxgears i get the error “Segmentation fault” when I try #glxinfo I get
“name of display::0.0”
“Segmentation fault”
at this point I’m willing to let sleeping dogs lay, seeing as how my rig is preforming everything graphical I want it to, how I want it to, but if anyone has encountered this and/or has an idea on how to make it work just right I’d love to hear it.

Thought the ccc info page and my xorg.conf file might help

run these commands and post the output please.

$export LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose
$glxinfo | grep direct

I did a full system update and then reinstalled the drivers and now I get an output with glxinfo, and glxgears runs, but when I try to run a 3d-app like xmoto the system freezes, I’m going to download a few more 3d games to see what happens. Getting better but not perfect yet.

This is the output of the command

libGL: XF86DRIGetClientDriverName: 8.49.7 fglrx (screen 0)
libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so
drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
drmOpenDevice: open result is 5, (OK)
drmOpenByBusid: Searching for BusID PCI:1:0:0
drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
drmOpenDevice: open result is 5, (OK)
drmOpenByBusid: drmOpenMinor returns 5
drmOpenByBusid: drmGetBusid reports PCI:1:0:0
direct rendering: Yes

not needed anymore, because you already fixed the segfault problem

try running xmoto in konsole, perhaps there’s something usefull in the output.

I updated all optional packages last night and made some changes in my bios in regards to the agp bus this morning, and now everything is working. I’m still not too sure why or how but after trying every driver after 8.40 and failing, I’ll take any victory I can get. Thanks for the replies.
