Stop script: a botheration

This is continually happening both in 11.2 & 11.3 (but did not occur in 103).
Ever so often I get a

How shall I avoid it?
Thanks.

That link doesn’t lead anywhere, should it?

Also, we need more information on what you’re doing when the message comes up. Do you see it in an email that some executable sends to you? or on a browser when you’re looking at some address on the internet, like an ftp address in Dolphin? Or what – more info please.

This particular one appeared when I was browsing the suse forums. This type of message with other links appear when I browse other sites I visit on firefox.

Enter this address in the address bar: about:config

Scroll down or use the filter feature to find this: dom.max_script_run_time

Check the default value. It should be 10, make it something big, like e.g. 20 or 30.

Did that work?

An afterthought — that was the quick fix, workaround. You might like to read about the underlying cause and the correct solution too. Here it is: Unresponsive Script Warning - MozillaZine Knowledge Base and this is good too: http://support.mozilla.com/en-us/kb/Warning+Unresponsive+script
