How can I stop akonadi from running at startup? Using Opensuse 13.1.
Open the “akonadiserverrc” file under “/home/user/.config/akonadi/” and set “StartServer=true” to “StartServer=false”. This should prevent Akonadi from starting.
Thanks. Now, how can I stop the PIM from starting at boot up?
If you’re not using the KDE PIM applications you can remove them. This would be the easiest way to prevent PIM from starting at boot up :).
Thanks for the thought. I considered the action of removing PIM, but your idea of rendering the server “false” seemed to work fine. Also, the start-up feature in KDE to a new session at each new boot appears to solve the problem too.
Thanks for your help.
You’re welcome! I’m glad I could help you
They are not automatically starting for me.
They are probably starting, because KDE attempts to start what was running when you last logged out.
Best would be to shut them all down. Then check to see if any are still in the tray (perhaps as hidden tray entries). Shut those down too - you can probably right-click on the tray icon and select “Quit” for each.
Then logout. When you login again, check whether any are still running.
Thank you, Mr. Rickert. Another excellent thought. Appreciate your comment and will continue the study.
