In the past, stitching multiple images together to make a single panoramic image in GNU/Linux required a lot of scripting. I made an attempt at using the available open source tools, but it was just too much effort. I recently revisited the process and it’s amazingly simple now! Just install these four packages: hugin, enblend, enfuse, and make.
hugin is the interface, enblend and enfuse are the processing engines, and make is used to drive the hugin produced information to enblend and enfuse.
hugin has an Assistant (first tab) that guides the process but you can also tune the processing yourself with the other interface tabs. If the software has trouble automatically generating Control Points, you can connect them yourself (though I’ve found it’s very good doing it automatically).
