still no hdaps patch ?

I was pretty disappointed to find that the kernel of openSUSE 11.1 is still not patched against hdaps.

I submitted a bug, but I am surprised because :

  • hard disk protection is a critical feature
  • there must be many laptop users, with a laptop supporting this (thinkpads, vaios, etc.). Is no one interested in it ?

What a hell.

Do openSUSE users really don’t care about their hard drive crashing if they drop their laptop ?

Or did I miss something ?

I’m with you. As far as I’m concerned this is a critical feature, critical shortcoming. Every time I even pick up my laptop while it’s powered on and I see the HDD light spin up I cringe.

I don’t see any reason not to include this as a default option.
