STICKY MOUSE POINTER

Suse 11.4 KDE, ATI Radeon HD5770.

I have just installed the latest driver from the ati website (ati-driver-installer-11-5-x86.x86_64.run), which installed without any error, however I now have a sticky mouse pointer in the bottom right corner of the screen, if i move the pointer over that area it sticks for a few moments, probably no more than a second, but is very annoying, anybody have the same problem and is there a fix.

thanks

no, i’ve not seen that but if yours is a laptop, suggest you try to
go Personal Settings - Configure Desktop > Input Devices > Touchpad >
Touchpad Configuration > Tapping, and look to see what is set up to
happen at the bottom right corner, and change it to something else, and
see if there is an impact on the stickiness…

my thoughts would be to go back to the driver which doesn’t give you
that problem (have you been though this guide:
http://tinyurl.com/37v9y7m)…or, don’t put the mouse into that
corner…or, ask ATI why their driver does that…or, next time put
“ATI users” in your subject line…

you are, of course, welcome to hang out here and see if any other ATI
users have seen this problem…but, you might get a faster answer by a
trip to google…

i can tell you this, about a week after loading onto the hardware in my
sig (intel video) my mouse pointer got “stuck” in the upper left corner,
why or how i have no idea…but, i could NOT move it…and after waiting
about a half hour hoping it would suddenly get better i shut down and
went to bed for the night…dozing off making plans of how i was gonna
boot to run level three and ‘fix’ the problem…

next morning, from habit, i turned on the machine on the way to turn on
the coffee maker…when i got back to the machine all was well with the
mouse and i’ve not seen the problem again–but, i suspect it was/is a
video driver bug…

thanks for the advice

Did you solve this problem anyhow? I ma facing the same problem… mouse pointer gets stuck, or I would say the whole system freezes for a few seconds when I move my mouse pointer to the down-right corner(where we have systray by default). I have AMD Radeon HD 6450 with fglrx(11.7) version. I even tried fglrx 11.8, but that just freezes the whole system and is a different problem altogether.

I am using openSUSE11.4, KDE 4.6.0 and installed fglrx the “hard” way.
