MS-Windows Users - you MUST defrag your MS-Windows partitions before installation of openSUSE. That is because if you have not already prepared a partition for openSUSE, then openSUSE installer will try to carve up your MS-Windows hard drive (allocating space for both MS-Windows and Linux), and a badly fragmented drive can cause problems.
hello guys 1st time user. before i load dvd ive defrag using diskeeper but how do i go about prepared partition? also do i install GRUB now.
pc specs:
lenovo t61
santa rosa chipshet
nvidia gfx
vista ultimate
As long as you have done a proper defrag, OpenSUSE will handle everything automatically for you. If you don’t like its suggestions, you can use expert mode to change them though, if you are completely new to Linux, I would advise you to let OpenSUSE make the decisions for you.
Before you start, have you backed up your important Windows data files?
You need to tell nero to burn as an image file, … not as a boot dvd … If you tell nero to install as a boot dvd, it will put dos (or windows) on your linux dvd, which you do NOT want to do. Tell it to burn as an image file.
Do NOT forget to do the md5sum check prior to burning.

i’d recommend you begin by fixing that firefox scroll problem…i’m
SURE i remember someone else having THAT problem…why don’t you use
the web forum’s SEARCH page and look for threads with stuff like
firefox scroll
in the subject line…then do some reading and fixin’
HINT: read all threads to the bottom BEFORE fixin…that way you might avoid the dead ends, and “it got worse when i did what you
said” mistakes…
