StartX won't work on boot for Optimus laptop when NVIDIA card is disabled

I recently ran into a strange issue with my laptop, as it was booting fine about a month ago. I’ve been using suse-prime to disable my NVIDIA card when my laptop wasn’t plugged in. However, about a month ago, I tried, and instead of booting me to my regular X11 desktop, it instead just booted me to a tty1 login. Any attempts at using “startx” after logging in to ttyl fail.

Unlike most problems that I find which arise due to not detecting the graphics card, my computer only boots normally when the Nvidia card is enabled. Stranger still, I noticed the issue only arises when unplugged. If I plug my laptop during boot, it boots perfectly normally, and I can then disconnect it. However, this isn’t a good long term solution.
