Just wondering what happened to the openSUSE startup and shutdown sounds in 12.2 Gnome? I personally like having a startup sound to keep from always having to check and see if my sound is working before I get started on my computer. Is there any way to get startup / shutdown sounds working again in Gnome 12.2? I know the sounds exist, they are found in /usr/share/sounds. How do I get them to play at startup and/or shutdown?
Accomplished the task myself, but only with the startup sound.
1- Copy the login sound from /usr/share/sounds, paste it in a local folder such as music.
2- Then rename it as “desktop-login”.
3- Then change permissions for the folder /usr/share/sounds/freedesktop/stereo with sudo chown -Rv username /usr/share/sounds/freedesktop /stereo/ Paste the renamed “desktop-login” ogg file into that folder. Restart and the startup sound should play.
I’m still working on getting a shutdown sound, but if anyone has already figured it out, please let me know how you did it!
