It’s pretty impressive, but I wonder how long it’ll be before Lucasfilm
issues a DMCA takedown notice.

Not sure but that would be a shame. I mean its not stealing anything,
its more like a contribution and homage.

Fair use also typically involves a short segment. It might be argued
that it is entirely “short segments”, but Lucas has proven to be very
protective of the Star Wars brand. “Droid” is a registered trademark of
Lucasfilm - and they get a royalty for each Motorola Droid device sold
IIRC.

I know, and it would be a shame, but Lucasfilm have been very protective
of the brand over the years.
And he’s now announced he’s retiring without making the last 3 Star Wars
films, saying essentially “All the fans hate me anyways, so why would I
open myself to more of that?”
He seems to hold a lot of animosity towards the fanbase.

Huh? He must be out of his mind.

Go figure.

It would be a bit rich if he did that, considering the number of
similarities [coincidental, of course] between Star Wars and Dune.

I think i never pay attention to any off that.
This world gets quiet complicated, doesn’t it.
Naturally i like LucasArts since they brought so nice adventure games to
the world unlike DOS which was quiet boring.
But yes, business is business.
Still i think that there will nothing happen. I read lately another
story about ScummVM and it was basically a similar case. Was a nice
read. (see ArsTechnica)

I probably wouldn’t have noticed it if someone hadn’t pointed it out to
me, either.

It sure does.

Oh, I do as well - Lucas revolutionized a lot of filmmaking, and he
should get respect for that.

I’d be surprised if Lucas didn’t do something, unless they asked for
permission (which is entirely possible).
