You are thinking that people trying to help you will go to a web forum
to look for your problem?

You are not giving much information.
Is the server in your LAN?
Does it have dynamic or static IP?

Or is it WAN?
Dynamic or static IP?

When you waat to resolve name to IP address you can either use DNS or configure it in your /etc/hosts file. When it is on your own LAN I suppose you know yourself if you are running a DNS server for the LAN. When not, every individual system must have the other systems in the /etc/host file.

ok thanks that done it, just 1 thing is there a text editor installed on 11.2 kde4? I could’nt get kwrite to open as root?

For system management I use* vi* in a terminal.

Hi
You can use kdesu coomand;

kdesu kwrite /etc/hosts
