Ok, glad I haven’t pushed it then, can you comment on the bugzilla report, I’ll keep poking at it.
It’s not the easiest thing in the world to diagnose, because I’m not having the problem with my hardware, so I can’t reproduce.

As a followup question for the people on this thread:
Are you using a laptop, or a desktop machine?
I’m using a laptop, a Tuxedo InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen 10 (AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, Radeon 890M). And as stated earlier, the patched 2.2.5-48 packages fix the problem there.

I’m experiencing the same issue on a Framework 13 laptop (AMD). Incidentally, that is the same APU as the OP (AMD 7840U with Radeon 780M Graphics).
The workaround mentioned in the first message also worked for me, and the patched ddcutil packages from @sfalken resolved the issue.
Thanks a lot!
Laptop.

desktop (sorry did not check this post sooner)
I have the usb devices on a usb dongle/splitter what ever you call it, but also tested straight into the system.
I been analyzing my logs (I uploaded in the ticket) but nothing except “Failed to activate /org/freedesktop/login1/session/_33 session. Maybe another compositor is running?” jumps out.
but maybe this is the answer https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/40612 no idea when it will hit tumbleweed though.
Same on my framework 13 but with the smaller cpu (7640u and 760m graphics).
https://build.opensuse.org/requests/1333483 brought the fixed ddcutils to Tumbleweed (will be in the next snapshot) and the fix is already in the Slowroll update repo.
Confirming that my issue was fixed with the latest snapshot. Thanks all
Can also confirm the issue is fixed now for me with today’s update that introduced the ddcutil packages 2.2.5-2.1
