spread openSUSE

Hi there! If I have the desire to make openSUSE known in my town, and want to distribute some openSUSE dvd`s, it is possible to order them free of charge?

And if it`s possible, how?

Thank you so much!

I don’t think they do free giveaways. Maybe they can offer them at a discounted price but I haven’t heard of any free variety.

You-know-who is the only one to give away for free (which is what got me into them in the first place since I didn’t have broadband at work and I had dial-up at home)

Ok… it was a nice way of presenting openSUSE with an original dvd, but… that`s it…

Depending on the target market, a LiveCD or the DVD will be more appropriate.

If it is for general consumption by people who may not be as computer-savvy then a LiveCD that has everyting set up may work better.

If it is for people who are somewhat technical and are interested in installing it (whether dual-boot or not) then a DVD is a good choice.

Either way, there is the openSUSE Shop, plus you can see if there is a community leader in your area. THEY may have access to more free stuff than us “peons” lol!

openSUSE also offers all the art work. Create your own openSUSE DVD’s !!!

Suggestion: Ask people interested to give you a cheap 1 GB USB-stick, ‘dd’ a Live-CD on it, give it back.

Become openSUSE ambassador? You can then request a decent amount of CDs/DVDs to distribute Ambassador - openSUSE

Well, in the near past, I’d contact Joe “Zonker” Brockmeier and he’d
send you a reasonable quantity. I last requested 50 for our LUG.

It is a great way to get openSUSE out there without having to burn
them all yourself. And you get a nice graphical card stock sleeve
with them!

I still have some DVD’s if you’re in the Dallas area…

I see, but actually I`m not in the US, but in Europe, in Romania more precisely…

Try to contact Micheal Loeffler (michl at suse dot de), he’s responsible for Promo DVD in EMEA and is now also in charge of the US zone too.
