Who am I meant to ask nicely to get such applications as Spideroak into the 11.4 repositories?

it will take a few days for all applications to be built and the
repos populated…

SpiderOak was dropped from Non-Oss due to difficulties from within support@spideroak.com.
However, I went to https://spideroak.com/download/suse and downloaded the openSUSE rpm.
Cheers!

Uh-oh… I think I installed it twice… if that’s possible. I have it twice in the menu. Can one instance be deleted and not both?

you don’t say which Desktop Environment you use, but if using KDE i
think you can right click the menu lizard, pick Menu Editor, nav to
the section(s) with spideroak listed, and
look at the “command” block for both menu instance, and see what
executable they point to…
if both point to the same executable, then i would guess you could
delete either menu entry…
which is NOT the same as deleting the program with YaST–if you don’t
understand the difference then you might ask…in either case read my
caveat below before deleting anything…

Ok, this really fouled things up! I am using KDE 4.6 on 11.4 and the steps to edit the menu have changed.
I had to unlock the widgets, then when I right-click on the lizard, I get a menu that says “Edit applications.” Clicking on that brings me a box with the menu tree. The first problem is that the menu tree does not correspond to what I see when I click on the lizard in normal usage. My original issue was clicking Menu–> Applications–> Internet–> brought me to a submenu with a list of options. At the bottom of this list were two entries for Spider Oak. What the editor sees is a freestanding entry for Spider Oak and another entry under “Data Exchange.” I deleted the one under “Data Exchange.”
I saved and exited the editor and went back to the menu to see what the effect was. It was nothing like I expected. Not only did both Spider Oak entries disappear (both had pointed to the same executable /usr/bin/SpiderOak) but ALL the entries under “Internet” have disappeared except for “Chat” and “Web Browser.”
How do I get the correct menu back?

actually, i have no idea…other than i guess the easiest way to
recover is to restore from backup the part of ~/.kde in which the menu
resides (if it is kept there)…
read my caveat again.

Thanks Romanator, and yes DenverD, that’s a good point, I was was being a little impatient I guess.
Prexy… good luck! You could just use Alt+F2, it’s quicker than the menu anyhow. Stopped using that a while ago… (Or setup keyboard shortcuts for your favourite applications?)
I did a little poking around and here is what I came up with. I unlocked the widgets, right-clicked the lizard and selected “edit applications.” That brought up a screen with the main menu categories. On that screen is an “edit” menu item; opening it reveals a “restore to system settings” option. Clicking it restored my missing menu items. Unfortunately, it restored the double entry for Spider Oak. I think I’ll just let this be for now. Curiously, when I search yast for orphaned apps, only Spider Oak shows up. I ignored that, too!
