Well, here it is: One of the most difficult questions in life. Are you
ready?
Which software should I use for full virtualization? VmWare? Xen? Tell
me what you think!
Why am I asking this? Because I have another thread with a “hard”
problem right over here: ‘Xen Virtualization brakes up [OpenSuse 11.1].
WTF? - openSUSE Forums’ (http://tinyurl.com/6tfa93), where nobody can
help me.
I’ve been waiting for a professional answer over 18 hours by now - all
that came was a fake link from one of the mods here. Great support I
guess.
I found virtualbox to be the easiest to use, performs fine to.
‘VirtualBox - openSUSE’ (http://en.opensuse.org/VirtualBox)
Had it set up to run Windows XP * 2… to test sites in internet
explorer 6 and 7.
That was on 11.0 though, assume it’s still good in 11.1
You might want to slow down a bit on the posting btw, most things here
take about a day to get an answer on.
[Edit]:
I suspect it would be a wise thing to completely uninstall whatever
xen set up first to avoid conflicts.

Full virtualization? I would use VMware ESX. Just because I don’t
have to consider VT/VMX support with it.
Long term, with new hardware and with paravirtualization, I would
consider kvm over Xen. Not really sure what Xen offers… I’m
thinking that Xen has a short life ahead of it.
So… create a DEDICATED VM platform… I would run VMware
ESX on it (choose a supported platform).
Next year (maybe), I would consider a dedicated platform running
kvm instead.
I have no idea why I would choose Xen… even today.
(Xen fanboys feel free to educate)
Hi
First off FYI, I’m not a mod, I’m a volunteer. It wasn’t a fake
link, it was a genuine google enquiry for your error.
This forum is just other users helping other users. If your needing
professional help, then might I suggest you look at using an enterprise
version (SLES) where you can pay for your support problems.
You may want to inquire over in the novell SLES forums
(http://forums.novell.com) as there may be more Xen orientated users
that may be able to help you.
I use VMware workstatation as none of the machine I have cpu’s that
support VT
Virtual Box and VMware server are good as well.
Good Luck
