Speedup of KDE start

FWIW

Unlike similar machines, on this laptop, on a new install, it was taking 66 seconds
for KDE to initialise.
Timing taken from pressing <return> after entering password to start of KDE melody.
This time was reduced to 34 seconds after the following.

Was this on a fresh reboot? As Linux caches data for subsequent logins.

Timing taken from pressing after entering password to start of KDE melody.
The times quoted are the same for reboot and cold start. Double checked.

Instead of simply removing all your sound system packages, IMO it would be more useful to analyze your syslog for errors and processes/tasks which might have taken an unusually long time. Immediately after booting, the following will write the last 200 entries of the syslog to a file in the same directory where your cursor is…

# tail -n 200 /var/log/messages > bootlog.txt

HTH,
TSU

Logs are per the attached.

The first 43 seconds of both logs have been removed as they are almost identical.

If of interest more info is available.
