Sound volume issues

I’m having some issues with volume levels, which are very low even when maxed out.

I’ve had both Ubuntu and Windows installed on my laptop previously. The sound under Ubuntu was pretty good, the sound under Windows was average, but the sound under Suse is awful; I can hardly hear anything.

So I know that I can achieve higher volume. Please help forum!

You could take a look at the openSUSE audio troubleshooting guide:
SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE

Specifically, for low volume, go to YaST > Hardware > Sound > other > volume and move the master/pcm volume there up very high. Then close YaST. Then go to your mixer (alsamixer if gnome and kmix if kde) and move your PCM/master volume levels up to a point where your volume is ok, but also not so high that you get distortion.
