Sound suddenly stops working while the sound meter in pavucontrol still shows response.

Hello,

I’ve recently installed openSUSE Tumbleweed on my laptop. On the first day, the sound works fine. But on the second day, the sound just suddenly stops working for both my speakers and headphones. I look in pavucontrol and the speaker still show meter movement when I play sound. The microphone meter still shows movement when I speak.

Here is my hardware probe: https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=07e54c3c41

The is a dual-boot setup. I’ve checked on *the other OS *and confirmed that my hardware is still working fine.
FYI, I’m using Pulseaudio.

Can anyone help me solve this issue?

One thing to try: in pavucontrol Configuration tab, change the Profile to Off, then back to a good setting (Analog Stereo Duplex for my laptop). I have to do this occasionally to get sound after the machine resumes from sleep.

Good Morning,

I went to sleep and the sound suddenly working again.

I still won’t consider this issue solve, since it might again break in the future. Until then, keep the suggestion coming!

crmrhm: I’ve tried that already, it didn’t work (back when the sound doesn’t work)
