I got P35-DS3R motherboard with ALC889 Sound Card (Intel?)
I have one small problem with playing music, at the beginning when i play music first 10 sec music stutters a bit, then it’s ok.
Kinfocenter shows Audo Devices as ALC 885 while i have 889. In Mixers it shows ALC889.
Alright no matter i fixed it Installed latest alsa, run alsa-config then restarted. After that i set the card up with YaST and now it works flawlessly but still shows it as 885 rotfl! No matter
Installed latest alsa from opensuse repo’s or from alsa website?
From where are you getting the updates from? I am running OpenSuSE 11.1 with the same motherboard and getting jitters for the first couple of seconds as well. I would really like to sort it out if there is an easy way to do so.
Well, a solution the problem (I think). I have the following ALSA packages installed on my system (all come with 11.1 by default unless upgraded through SuSE updates):
alsa-1.0.18-8.9
alsa-tools-1.0.18-1.16
alsa-docs-1.0.18-8.9
alsa-plugins-1.0.18-6.13
alsa-oss-1.0.17-1.43
alsa-firmware-1.0.17-1.42
tsalsa-20080914-0.pm.1
alsa-oss-32bit-1.0.17-1.37
alsa-plugins-pulse-1.0.18-6.13
alsa-tools-gui-1.0.18-1.16
alsa-utils-1.0.18-6.4
kalsatools-1.5.0-499.110
java-1_6_0-sun-alsa-1.6.0.u7-20.4
I have run “alsaconf” as root. This has updated /etc/modprobe.conf. Starting up Amarok has resulted in no initial stutter. Now, as far as it surviving a reboot, well… Will reboot and see what happens.
