Hi there,
NEWBY WARNING!
I finally found out that to get sound to work I need to install some drivers for linux from ASUS.
I’ve got them, but how do I install them? :shame:
Cheers,
It’s possible you might want to look here first
Hardware - openSUSE
You could tell us what we are dealing with.
lspci -v
from a su terminal can give useful info
Please provide more info on your hardware.
Do you mean the onboard sound of the ASUS M3N-HT Deluxe?
If this is the case, you have to update your BIOS to the latest version. No additional drivers are needed.
The easiest way should be:
Download the most recent BIOS release from ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-
Unzip it, then put the extracted file on a USB drive (filesystem should be FAT as far as I know) or a CD.
Reboot, enter the BIOS setup screen by pressing DEL when the ASUS splash screen is displayed
Enter the EZ-Flash utility (I don’t know it’s exact location, should be under “Tools”)
Follow the instructions on the screen (locate the BIOS image and be sure to have a stable power line )

HI,
The h/ware support page is very interesting, thanks!
So is lspci -v must remember that one.
At moment I’m trying to install SUSE over a trashed Ubuntu upgrade. Waiting on answers re that, too.

NO, It is a P5GC-MX Board.

The drivers I d/l were supposed to fix the problem but nobody seemed willing/able to tell me how to do the CLI install over on the Ubuntu Board.

Only hard part here is that I’m in Oz and stable power is like expecting ADSL to be reliable (512/256 averages half that in the jungle of Nth Queensland… )
Thanks will try it.
