hi,
i am having some problems with my M2N4-SLI mainboard, after install the linux, there’s no sound, but when i look at configuration, there are the my sound board installed like if everything was normal.
i have tried run alsaconf ( it detect my soundboard and install but no i stay without sound ), i have run the alsamixer to configure volumes, everything is normal, no one is mute etc.
somebody have any idea of what could be the problem?
obs: i have windows vista installed and there the sound is correctly, then there are no problems with my hardware.
I have this board but I don’t use the on-board sound. I have never bothered with it, though it does seem to be recognized ok.
You have been to Yast hardware Sound and checked the volume settings?? The two sliders should be set to about 85%
yes, i checked at KMix, and all the bars is high, and almost all on, only mic is off. i tried add a new board in the list of yast, a alsa dummy, all bars of it is high too, but it still without sound.
Note, to test if your sound is working, I recommend you try copy and pasting the following into a gnome-terminal or a kde konsole:speaker-test -Dplug:front -c2 -l5 -twavyou should hear a lady’s voice saying “front-left”, “front-right” five times. Note Linux is case sensitive.
If that does not work, try a shorter form version:speaker-test -c2 -l5 -twavIf you hear sound (ie if you hear the lady’s voice), then please post here, let us know this fact, and explain more as to what your sound problem might be.
Don’t forget to install alsa-firmware.
If that does not work, and if you do not hear the lady’s voice, then we need more information to help solve your problem. To provide more information, with your PC connected to the internet copy and paste the following into a gnome-terminal or konsole:
When the script completes it will pass you a URL. Please post that URL here.
Also, please copy and paste the following into a gnome-terminal or konsole and post the output here.rpm -qa | grep alsa
rpm -qa | grep pulse
rpm -q libasound2
uname -a
cat /etc/modprobe.d/sound
Once I have that information, I believe I may be able to provide helpful recommendation(s).
Hi,
I have “Solved” the problem, there is audio, but only in the audio outputs in chassis. The audio outputs that is in the motherboard don’t work in linux by some reason. I tried change the volumes in the alsamixer, but in all cases the sounds only work in the chassis output , and not in the motherboard output.
