Sound not working after multimedia codecs and graphics driver installation

Hello. I am having trouble getting sound working under a brand new install of OpenSUSE 11.3. I am new to both SUSE and anything that’s not Debian based, so please understand if I’m not able to comprehend a lot of what you say quickly. :stuck_out_tongue:

After a successful install, I attempted to play an MP3 file. This did not work in Amarok, and installation of it would also not work. So I went to this site, openSUSE 11.3 | SUSE Linux | Beginner’s guide to multimedia codecs MP3 DVD 3D nvidia ati wireless and installed the multimedia codecs and all that. While I was there I also installed the ATI driver for my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 onboard chip. After booting back up, x would not start, so I fixed that with a command. After finally getting into X, sound wouldn’t work, and I con not figure out why. I know if it installed something the affects my audio, but any help will greatly be appreciated.

I’m still not having any luck, I have also noticed that when I click my volume up and down buttons the volume level thing is not displayed.

Do you get any audio at all from any application ? System ? Please note this guide here:
