Hello all. I’m using OpenSuse 11.4 64 bits with KDE 4.6.00 (4.6.0) “release 6”. Since several days, the sound level setting via the sound icon at the right of the task bar is very slow, ie it takes several seconds (not to say one minut or more) between the action of increase / decrease the sound level and the effect on the sound level… Same behaviour when I select this sound level icon at the right of the task bar, the cursor appears one minut later. Any idea please ? Thanks a lot for your answers.
I assume this has not always been the case, since you post ‘since several days’. Was it quicker ‘several days’ ago ? If so, what have you changed ‘several days’ ago ? Did you by chance install something ?
You can check to see what you installed, by typing in a terminal:
rpm -qa --last | less
and look at the EXACT day in which this problem 1st started occurring, and see if you can determine what the offending application/cause might be ?
Yes, it has not always occured but unfortunatly I cannot say exactly when this problem first occured… In addition, this is not systematic. In order to solve this problem :
Application windows entirely black when another one already displayed
I disabled (in may, 2011) desktop effects, perhaps there is a link…
Typing “rpm -qa --last | less” does not help me because the list is very long and I do not remember exactly when this problem first occured.

Unlikely that there is ANY link.
At the risk of telling you to close the barn door after the horse has gone , in FUTURE you could do what I do, which is when I note something is not working, I immediately NOTE down on a piece of paper the date in which I first noted it. This is true for MS-Windows as much as it is for GNU/Linux. Indeed I know a Mac user who does the same. It does wonders in helping one come up with a less than speculative cause and effect.
