Hello everybody,
first of all sorry for my english (it is not the best).
OK I have a problem with my sound…sound level very low and the micro does not work (actually it work but very, very, very low)
Iam running a OpenSuSe 11.1 with KDE 4.
My motherboard is a K7VT6 with a VIA 8235 chipset.
The soundcard is onboard.
What can I do to fix that so I can use skype.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
JCW
cwuzel I do not use skype so I can NOT help you with that.
Reference low volume go to YaST > HARDWARE > SOUND > OTHER > VOLUME and move up PCM and MaSTER to 95% or so. Also possibly speaker (if not PC speaker). Then close YAST. Start kmix (it may be running already). Move up PCM and Master volume (and maybe speaker) until you have volume at acceptable level.
Reference mic, you just need to get out paper and pencil, write down what your are doing, and tune the kmix mic settings until you find a setting that works. Be certain to put the boost on.
Note in KDE4 you can add extra controls to kmix via one of the menu items (channel or something like that).
I am a KDE3 and not a KDE4 user.
Good luck!
What A foul Iam …the mic was switch off…thanks for that.
The speakers level were on 100% allready …no way to bring level up any more.
BUt again thanks for help
Yes, there might be a way to get them up. Open a terminal window and type ‘alsamixer’. On some cards some extra volume sliders are shown here, and not in kmix.
They are there, but also at 96% and no upper activity :(, no worries I think it is bether so , so I may get old hearing thanks to you too Knupht
