Songbird only able to play current song & the next one

Hi, I’m new to openSUSE… and currently I’m install songbird from here :

Index of /repositories/home:/astrapi:/playground/openSUSE_11.2

I install this version because the latest version is so purple…
everything is OK except the fact that I cant play my whole song in the library nor playlist, only able to play back & forth current song and the next one…

I’m already try the new version though… the problem stay.

is there anyone ever experience this? Any help would appreciate…

You should not be using it from there IMO, rather from Packman.
And you should follow this in the first place:
Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide - openSUSE Forums

If you use kde, you will be able to do this, which makes things easier:
http://tinyurl.com/yejwull

You will need to remove that playground repo BTW.

Thanks for your suggestion, I’ll try it ASAP… btw, I’m using gnome… is it the same workaround?

Not the same exactly, because gnome lacks functionality in Yast that is present in kde’s QT interface.
You can change that, it’s shown in the guide I posted

or you can use zypper dup -r <repo>
What you put for <repo> is dependant on your repo list

zypper lr -d

If you want to post the result of that, I can tell you what to enter.
Basically, it forces all packages for multi-media to be from Packman.

So basically, I should get all the multimedia package from packman? I never use zypper, only app manager…is it ok?

Software Manager is fine, but in gnome the gtk interface kinda sucks - you can switch to using QT for yast by following the guide here
How To Get QT zypper GUI in GNOME YAST - openSUSE Forums

Then you should be able to do this
http://tinyurl.com/yejwull

But having said that, if you post the zypper output I can tell you what to do. It will also help me confirm that you have the correct setup.

I’m not on my computer now… I’ll post asap…

roosydinharis@HP540:~> zypper lr -d

that was I got, but before that I got much repo from 1click install… the one I post is after I delete all those repo… or might be those repo that cause my system not so well?

Please try and check you have the packages in the list here:
Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide - openSUSE Forums

Now do this in a su terminal

zypper dup -r 2

Just in case you don’t know how:
Become su in Terminal - HowTo - openSUSE Forums

here what I got :

Loading repository data…
Reading installed packages…
Computing distribution upgrade…
4 Problems:

Problem: nothing provides imlib2 needed by libcaca0-0.99.beta17-0.pm.1.1.i586
Solution 1: keep libcaca-0.99.beta16-2.3.i586
Solution 2: break libcaca0 by ignoring some of its dependencies

imlib2
is actually in OSS

Tell you what - just try a full dup over the entire system

like this

zypper dup

Then if necessary we can work on Packman

Seems bad… isn’t?

Seems good, say yes

Done, and now my chromium is gone, my scribus is downgraded, compiz wont work like I use to set before (can’t do expo) and the songbird problem is still instead its going purple…what I did wrong?

For what it’s worth, I also had problems with Songbird in openSUSE 11.2 GNOME. Banshee worked fine with all formats, after installing the right packages, but Songbird skips songs, and I noticed other bugs. I installed the version from Packman, btw… Try using Banshee or Rhythmbox. They work just fine.

Btw, if you can get pass all the bugs in Songbird, you can change the interface from the default “Purple Rain” to whatever you like. There’s a port of the old “Gonzo” interface. It’s just like installing a Firefox Theme.

I’m using Rhytmbox too… I use songbird because it can manage my music library… oh well, ok then. btw, how supposed I’m gonna have my chromium, scribus & compiz work again (expo, I already click it but it keep unactivated)? Is it ok to install from app manager like I use to?
