Sometimes unable to restart or end session.

Hi,

I’m new here and coming from Windows 10 but Im not a full moron

I have installed opensuse leap 42.2+Gnome, steam, dota 2, PlayOnLinux and nothing more, but sometimes the system doesnt let me restart the OS or end sessions I click in the tray icon too restart or end my session but nothing happens. Some clues?

I thank you all.

is windows fast boot disabled it’s a form of hibernation that mirosoft reinvented that can cause a lot of issues with other OS’s specially on gpt disks (this is an efi boot right?)
I’d say disable it (google is your friend)
also what video card and driver are you using as intel and nvidia chips have some issues (solvable) under plasma 5

edit
as you are on gnome the nouveau driver will work but you’ll get better performance with nvidia’s propitiatory driver

Well, none of us are, although some of us try real hard. rotfl!

It should be possible to get to the Login Screen by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Backspace twice, this will kill and restart the X server. This should handle things until someone comes along and helps you diagnose and fix the actual problem.

Yes is uefi and I have a GTX 680 with intel.

I thank you all for the support. I pray to they can fix this issue.

is that a desktop or a laptop as newer laptops are hybrid nvidia/intel machines and need a special driver called bumblebee
if it’s a desktop see what graphic chip is set as default in bios build-in or pci-express if it’s build-in you’re using intel’s chip not nvidia so you’d need to change that setting
if it’s a laptop install bumblebee see this
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_Bumblebee
it’s easy to do and without it you might have issues
anyhow windows fastboot is on by deafault and if you got their new 10 version it’s probobly reset to on so disable it
