Sometime in last 3 days unable to get past error on guest - tried previous kernals -saved image work

I had to reboot a virtual machine and am getting vboxclient errors. I have this on all 7 laptops.
There are no errors in any log but no matter what virtual screen driver I try I get VboxClient errors - failed to get display change requests and failure waiting for event
rc=verr-invalid-handle.

Saved machines are ok until rebooted and short of going back to last weekend’s backup to get around the problem.

All are Opensuse version of Virtualbox and guest additions from normal repo’s.

I uninstall all the VirtualBox pieces in the guests and change the video to VMSVGA.
No errors but cannot dynamically resize the windows - the linux display will change to whatever linux supports in the pull down.
