Some application install with the wrong language

Good evening. I have installed Opensuse 11.3 with English US language packs. The system and locale all show en_US and en_GB installed. OpenOffice, VirtualBox and Skype seems to be in russian? All other apps is in English. What has gone wrong? Where do I have to look or change to fix this? I have changed the setting in OpenOffice to English (USA) but this does not fix the problem. The same for Skype.

Go to yast->Install/remove software and find each soft. In the list of packages :

  • for openoffice, install this package : OpenOffice_org-l10n-en-GB and deinstall OpenOffice_org-l10n-ru
  • for virtualbox, I am surprised. Did you check the app settings?
  • skype???

Did you check your regional setting if you’re in KDE?

Hi Daax, below is the out put of locale, and the insalled software for each of the apps.

I followed some steps on the web to change the language of skype >:( Didn’t help.
Same for Openoffice.

I am using gnome as the desktop. How do I add and image, as I am not sure it is Russian? It could be Greek …rotfl!

Additional update. I quickly logged into Icewin, and here the OpenOffice and Virtualbox displays correctly in English. Skype is still and issue as it is in Spanish, and can be fixed.

Managed to fix this weird issue. Standard Symbols L set in Gnome fonts changed the default language for the application to … Whatever it was. Not too sure why this would occur, other than the font not being available for the application in the language set. After changing this to Nimbus Sans all apps now working as intended…rotfl!

Thank you for the assistance.
