I did not run into any issues with the latest update. So probably don’t have that package installed here.
If I had run into the problem you describe, I would probably go with option 2. That leaves the problem there, in the hope that it might go away with the next update. But if it persists for several more updates, then your choice of option 1 is going to be a good choice.
