Software-updates Discover vs Yast

I am an average Linux user. Distrohopped until I finally ended up with openSUSE Tumbleweed this week.
Today I see in Discover that there are 64 updates. However, if I go to Yast software updates, there are 0 updates there.
With the instruction zypper up I also find 64 updates.

Question: Why do I find nothing via Yast software updates. Do I need to change any settings?

Kind regards
WebHeer

The only way you should update Tumbleweed is by using

zypper dup

Tumbleweed packages are almost never updated using it’s Update repositories. Tumbleweed delivers snapshots that are in fact new releases and that is why you should do a dist-upgrade (dup).

OK I understand. Do I understand correctly that Yast software update has no function in Tumbleweed?
(Of gewoon in het Nederlands, Heeft Yast software update geen functie in Tumbleweed?)

Gr. WebHeer

Yast Software Update mainly applies patch files. A patch file is, roughly speaking, instruction for updating.

Tumbleweed does not use patch files. So you are correct, that Yast Software Update is not particularly useful in Tumbleweed.

Correct.

(in het Nederlands, maar daar hebben we een speciale afdeling voor hier op de forums: juist).

On the forums in https://forums.opensuse.org/forumdisplay.php/664-Announcements new Tumbleweed snapshots are announced. You could create an RSS feed to get notifications if you like that.

Thanks, I’m all caught up again.
