Hey, I am not taking anything negative.
reply of 1:
even I don’t have any idea about that.
reply of 2:
I didn’t modified any repository.
reply of 3:
you can check them by opening those urls.
reply of 4:
yes I logged in through root user. When I logged in through root user so there is no use of ‘su -’
reply of 5:
I didn’t add any urls yet.
And please don’t say sorry. there is no much trouble yet. But I just want that online updates should work anyhow.
It should be “zypper lr --details” to be complete - in code tags, of course.
linux-zkys:~ # zypper lr --details

Repost this, but between CODE tags as asked and explained in post #18 above. This is unusable.
Now please can anybody tell me what is the problem with my system? Why it is not able to update the OS online?
And how can I attach a file when replying to a post?

Please answer our questions, post the info we asked for using the methods
we told you to.

I already told you that.

So, you probably broke already your system by running as root. Maybe you
have to reinstall. >:-)

you should never log into KDE/Gnome/XFCE or any other *nix-like system’s
graphical user interface desktop environment as root…
doing so 1) opens you up to several different security problems if you
(for example) browse the net, 2) too many, far too easy ways to damage
your system no matter how careful your actions (for example: well
documented cases of unintended change of ownership of ~/.ICEauthority
and ~/.Xauthority from user to root sometimes occurs), 3) anyway logging
into KDE/etc as root is never required to do any and all
administrative duties, 4) and, not even logging in as root just to see
if it works as root is useful, because the “yes” or “no” learned is
almost always totally useless in finding the problem giving the
symptoms…while, logging into the GUI as root to learn the yes/no could
cause the next adverse symptom encountered.
so, always log in as yourself, and “become root” by using a root powered
application (like YaST, File Manager Superuser Mode) or using “su -”,
sudo, kdesu, or gnomesu in a terminal to launch whatever tool is needed
(like Kwrite to edit a config file)…read more on all that here:

http://tinyurl.com/ydbwssh
http://tinyurl.com/6bo2cqg
http://tinyurl.com/4nsaqst
http://tinyurl.com/665h5ek
http://tinyurl.com/6ry6yd
additionally: after logging into KDE/Gnome/etc as root, if you
experience problems (for example, with uncommanded file ownership and
permissions changes or problems updating your system) and if you can
provide us with details of what you were doing while you were logged in
as root, that might help us identify if there’s a bug that needs to be
fixed…thanks for your help…

Ok I agree, my system might have broken while I logged in through root user.
After reading your and guest’s post I reinstalled the OS fresh and logged in with non-root user and made all the network configurations.
And when I again tried to connect to the software repositories which are already predefined to update my system, again the same problem I faced.
Now, what could be the issue?
Here are some of the links of my network settings which I made in my system.-

i’m not a networking guru, but looking at your:
http://susepaste.org/60056799
i’d say some of your problems might be eased if you replace the
182.16.104.51 with 8.8.8.8 and then put 8.8.4.4 in the “Name Server 2”
blank…
if that doesn’t help then i would next do what i already suggested in my
first reply…pick a specific mirror…like on your
http://susepaste.org/67731112 highlight the line with
“http://download.opensuse.org/update/12.1”, click edit and then insert a
near you mirror you can find on the mirror page i gave you in that first
note…like:
http://mirror-fpt-telecom.fpt.net/opensuse/update/12.1/
and, pick a specific mirror for each of oss and non-oss, like:
http://mirror-fpt-telecom.fpt.net/opensuse/distribution/12.1/repo/oss/
http://mirror-fpt-telecom.fpt.net/opensuse/distribution/12.1/repo/non-oss/
and add packman: http://packman.inode.at/suse/openSUSE_12.1/
it might work then, or it might not…if not, you can always revert back
to the redirector at download.opensuse
oh! i see you are using a proxy…there IS something about using a proxy
with YaST…but, i don’t remember what…sorry…

I deleted the entries of cd/dvd repository and added ‘8.8.8.8’ and ‘8.8.4.4’ dns entries in dns configuration.
Now I get this error while updating -
There was an error in the repository initialization.
|] Valid metadata not found at specified URL(s)
History:
- |] Repository type can’t be determined.
and what is that something about using a proxy with YaST?

i’ve never used a proxy, so i do not remember…but, maybe this:

Ah, finally!
Are you in a network with a proxy server? If you do not know, ask the
network administrator.
Did you try the “test proxy settings” button?
Do you need a password?

Yes I’m in a network with a proxy server. I have made proxy settings also and tested the connection but it gives me this message mentioned below:

And I don’t need a password to bypass proxy server. I have attached an image of my proxy settings which I made on susepaste. You can check it here -

Hi robin_listas,
One more thing I want to say that right now I’m not in mood to give up at any cost. For the past 3 days I’m trying to solve this same problem whenever I get time but every time I failed to solve this problem.
I want to solve this problem anyhow because I like openSuse and I want to try this OS.
So, please if you need any information to help me to solve this problem, I am ready to share with you people. Ask for any information you need to solve this problem.
And thank you for your great help guys.
Thank You!
And why is it so that under ‘Type’ tab it shows ‘NONE’ ?

as said, i know very LITTLE about proxy stuff…so i can’t help other
than to try to give you some bread crumbs to follow (while you wait on a
real guru to show up, and guide):
http://old-en.opensuse.org/YaST_Proxy
https://www.google.com/search?&q=site%3Adoc.opensuse.org+yast+proxy+opensuse
https://www.google.com/search?&q=site%3Aforums.opensuse.org+yast+proxy+opensuse
and, try to ask someone there in your school how they got their’s to
work? (maybe the school’s network administrator is also running openSUSE???)
[and, when it is finally solved please record the solution in this
thread (so the next person can find it, also with google)]

This time I put “http://proxy.icfre.org:80/” as my all proxy settings and also put the username and password.
Then I test my proxy settings and gives me message that proxy settings are ok.
Again then, I go for updating the OS and again I faced the same problem -
Download (curl) error for ‘http://download.opensuse.org/update/12.1/repodata/repomd.xml’:
Error code: Connection failed
Error message: Failed to connect to 2001:67c:2178:8::13: Network is unreachable
Again I get this error mentioned above, same errors with all the defined repositories…
