So, Yes I am retarded...

ok, let me apologize cuz I do have a broadcom 4306 wireless card, but I’ve done the bcm43xx thing and now at least network manager is detecting my card…yeah hurdle one passed.

So why can’t i connect to my router, it broadcast the ssid, but opensuse won’t detect it…windows, on a separate computer (i’m not dual booting because I’ve read it will cause problems), does detect it, and so I’m stuck…I’ve configured the network to ad hoc, managed and master, but nothing is working…sure would like some advice…my iwconfig:

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:""
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated
Tx-Power=27 dBm
Retry min limit:7 RTS thr: off Fragment thr=2352 B
Encryption key: off
Power Management: off
Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

I don’t want to waste anyone’s time, but I’m stuck…is there a “how to” with baby steps on how to get wireless card to see routers…

iwlist wlan0 scan
wlan0 No scan results

But thanks for not totally blasting me…the wireless button was off aparently

Glad you solved it.

Just a friendly bit of advice, as all 3 posts are related it is better to keep them all together. One it will assist others looking for the solution. Also you won’t have duplicate solutions being posted in threads that perhaps may get over looked.

Also whilst waiting for replies generally 24hrs is the time frame before getting frustrated with lack of replies. As for why lack of replies many reasons different time zones, members frequenting haven’t encountered the problem etc…

But if you give 24hrs then hopefully in that time frame someone maybe able to assist.

Any way glad you solved it might want to get a mod to merge all 3 together so they have some context. And perhaps to assist the next user with the same card as you and problem.

I tried to join all these up – but mucked it up a bit – they all ran together – hope it make sense.

Apparently you’ve fixed it. Linux is strange in that it does what you
tell it. For computers that do things you don’'t tell them (like catch
viruses, crash, etc.) see www.microsoft.com  All in good fun, I hope.

Good luck.
