I have not tried a game under opensuse except Workd of Tanks which I can’t make work.
Is there one that is pretty simple & seamless to install and get running ?
Some RPG would be fine ?
The whole bit about installing Wine then Play on Linux, then the game itself left me humbled.

If you like martial art games then try lugaru. It is in the games repo.
There are hundreds of linux/native games in games repo and packman

I play Eternal Lands (EL). A great time waster LOL
Used to be in the repos but I can’t find it now I just install from the files from the web site to you home (not as root!)

I just install to my user home Works better that way then installing as root. Updates and such are simpler to handle because there is no permission confusion
It is a MMORPG Very open ended with no real goal except what you set
You might also want to check out Wesnoth which is a turn base RPG. It is available from the repos
Add the game repo and you will see lots of free games. Some good some not so… It really depends on what kind of game you like.
The games that I have played in Linux without the use of WINE that I can remember off the top of my head:
Wesnoth (turn based strategy game, see: Battle for Wesnoth)
Frogatto (2d platformer game, really great art and animations, see Frogatto & Friends)
openTTD (transport tycoon deluxe open source remake, see OpenTTD)
SuperTuxKart (fun kart game, the graphics are not great but from what I hear the next release will address that, see Main Page - Supertuxkart)
Crusader Kings II (fun real time strategy game, you can get it on Steam)
For more native games look in the games repo and on Steam if you use it.
I do encourage you to use PlayOnLinux though, once you have installed it the first time it should be easy to install stuff. In fact installing PlayOnLinux should be pretty easy too, you can get an up to date rpm for opensuse from here software.opensuse.org: and then just install games and programs as needed.

Sorry for double post but I have just tried out Euro Truck Simulator on Steam (native Linux one) and it runs really well. With the NVIDIA drivers I can basically run it on max at 1680x1050. All things considered you should check out the games on steam, there have been some nice ones out for Linux, especially right now when they are on sale! lol!

So where did you go to get Steam for Linux ? I checked Yast and it’s not there.
You can get it from here software.opensuse.org: from the games repo lol!
I should warn you that you can only play linux versions of games from the linux client, to play the windows version you need to run the windows version of steam in wine and then launch the games from there (where they may or may not work depending on the game).
If you like Star Trek, I’ve been playing Starfleet Command 2 Community Edition. It’s an older Windows game, which has been updated for newer Windows versions and developed by a community. I’ve been running it on PlayOnLinux (with about 15 other games) brilliantly, I’ve not tried the online gaming side (not into it) but the single player skirmishes and campaign works great. In fact, I can’t stop playing it. 
Got it from dynaverse.net for about $5 (much less than the original). Also got the BBC Doctor Who adventure games working on it too.
