So laggy after update xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd.

Updated xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd few days ago, became so laggy, windows pop up & zoom very slow,it was snappy (I didn’t install proprietary driver). My graphic card is integrated ATI Radeon HD3200. Any solution?

Do you have a /etc/X11/xorg.conf ?

Hi,I’ve installed latest ATI proprietory driver 10.2,everything is smooth. I tried to get /etc/X11/xorg.conf but terminal said permission denied.

??? that does not make sense …

… are you certain it was not just a simple case of the file not being there?

But glad to read you have the proprietary driver working

I noticed latest radeonhd packages do not use or turn on DRI. Haven’t tested more since i get far more better results with the radeon driver on my mobility radeon X1300.

That would cause the laggy-ness on your desktop. Drawing of windows that’s slow etc…

DRI is purposely disabled in the latest update for >= R600 cards to temporarily prevent some lockups. The radeon driver is however not affected, and you can choose to use radeon instead of radeonhd if you do not like the proprietary driver.
