So I have this...

So I have this Dell Latitude D410. I have an additional monitor hooked up to it. So I have the laptop screen and one monitor. Right now they’re displaying the same thing. No matter what I select in X11 Config, I can’t get it to work as one continuous screen… ONLY duplicates. Please help!

No suggestions?

Do you use KDE? If so, try starting the krandrtray applet and
right click on it and see what you get.

Also you can do a man xrandr and see if you can do something
from the command line.

(no promises… I’ve dealt with a laptop with the Intel
video and used the xrandr stuff to manipulate the second
display before though)

I’ve also heard this can be a limitation of the video driver you are using… which video chipset does the laptop have?

You have a chance to get things running by choosing a different form of multi monitor setup. Not Xinerama… Don’t have it specific info on this at the moment… but I can look it up and post back. It will require some manual tinkering though…
