Ignores my ‘Check Interval’ and checks every day anyway.
A panacea to let us think we have some control over updates?
I know, I don’t have to install them, but a 'Check Interval is a ‘Check Interval’ and should be recognized as the users preference.
OK, through whining… on with it Bill!
I always disable that check for update app.
Then I just use Yast Online Update to check whenever I wish - weekly, monthly, daily, every 3rd friday, etc, etc
I don’t like auto anything when it comes to system and user software changes.
By default the Update widget does a check on each login no matter how the settings are set.
If you don’t want this remove it and use zypper up or Yast… Note, Yast update only checks the update repo so other update may be missed such as packman
I use Yast Online Update regularly for system updates,
I use Yast Software Management occasionally (once a month)
for non system updates. I always enable the “Repositories” tab in Yast Software Management - via the “view” drop down.
Click the Repositories tab, click a repository from the left side list (eg Packman, google-chrome, etc),
then right-click the right side installed-packages list and select “all in this list…update if newer version”.
You’ll be presented with a list of available updates to accept or reject as a group or individually.
It is a lot easier to do, than it is to describe
Oops, that should read:
Click the Installation Summary tab and you’ll be presented with a list of available updates
to accept or reject as a group or individually.
