To restore individual files seem to work but not selecting multiple files on a btrfs partition , any ideas
This is very vague. Please always tell exactly what you do (preferable copy/paste from your terminal window the prompt, the command, the output and the next prompt between CODE tags, the # button in the tool bar in the post). What you expected this to do and what it did instead. We want computer facts, not only your conclusions.

to reproduce create a single snapshot ( root partition in my case) and change couple of files
… restore . yast2 snapper > show changes > select more than one file > Restore Selected > restoring files OK > restoring files 100% OK > but nothing happened
repeat the process but choose to restore one file 
Have you read and followed openSUSE Reference: Chapter 4. Snapshots/Rollback with Snapper
Section 4.3 Using Snapper to Restore Files from Hourly Backups probably covers your use of single or timeline snapshots, but for procedure it refers you back to 4.1 for YaST Snapper or 4.2 for snapper command.
My impression is that you need to use two snapshots and the “diff” feature to restore multiple files.
