SMTube Not Displaying Video

I have installed MPlayer, SMPlayer, and SMTube, the YouTube application. I have installed the codecs which seem to be appropriate.

The SMTube program does the following:

  1. It starts, stays active for a few seconds, then shuts down.

  2. Using SMPlayer, I can play YouTube videos but, while the audio plays fine, no video is displayed.

I am using an Acer Aspire One Cloudbook 14; it has an Intel Celeron processor and 2 GB RAM and is a 64-bit computer.

When I tried the 32-bit version of SMTube, the program stayed open, audio was fine, but no video was displayed. When I effected a dist-upgrade, the 32-bit program was updated to the 64-bit one which will not stay open.

Can anyone help me to get this program to function correctly? Is this a temporary phenomenon (I hope it is). Has anyone else been able to use the SMTube program on a 64-bit computer?

Thanks to anyone who has helpful information.

One good way of troubleshooting: Does any Youtube video work from a browser such as Google Chromium or Mozilla Firefox?
