Hi there!.
I drop here an idea that helped me to control the volume when playing audio files on SMPLAYER. The thing is if no image embedded in the file and if you want to control the volume you need to move the cursor to the small area around the volume handler in the right down corner. Same thing when playing videos is much easier because you just need to move the cursor to any area inside the image.
Well, you can put any image file you like, better a big one, inside the folder or the desktop where the audio file is located and name it “cover.jpg”. SMPLAYER will use that image as it uses the embedded image in any audio file with it inside. It’s useful when sometimes you play and audio file and the volume is very loud and it’s difficult to get to the volume control area down. In this case I have left button click configured to play pause so it’s very fast to pause instantly the audio and lower the volume.
The only problem is thunar will use that image as folder icon too. Anyway i leave here this tip because it was useful for me and so can be for other users. If you find this tip of any use please buy me a coffee
Cheers.

Nice workaround and thanks for sharing.
Have you explored the possibility of using hotkeys instead?
I know mpv has them, never used SMPlayer but wiki says it’s a frontend for MPlayer and mpv…

I mainly use the mouse to control it because my keyboard is a little away.
Later I found out you can override it using a different icon for the folder if you put inside a “folder.jpg or .png” file. Thunar will use that file over cover.jpg one. For example copying the same file used by the icon theme you are using.
I guess mpv is not GTK or KDE 100% compatible, so if you mainly control programs in those environments SMplayer is a better option, at least for me.
Thanks.
