Have you changed vendor to packman??
Yes i have.
In yast double check that smplayer stuff comes from packman. On the other hand TW may have broken something.
actually i got it from here. I added the repo the one before that didn’t work either
obs://build.opensuse.org/home:smplayerdev
OK so its not coming from packman. its coming from openSUSE. my mistake how do i add the packman one for tumbleweed for smplayer. I have the packman repo
http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/packman/suse/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/
tell us your repo’s
zypper lr -d
as you are on tw make sure the packman repo has the highest propriety so when you do a system update your multimedia doesn’t brake

You can switch in yast use the version tab bottom right.
Remove the smplayer repo it is not needed unless you have very special needs and then you must be careful
Well i looked under versions. there is no packman smplayer only from openSUSE.
or just do
zypper dup --from 5
to increase packman’s priorety reduce it’s number from 99 to say 99 do
zypper mr -p 90 5
so when you do a zypper dup paclman’s packages won’t change repo’s
smplayer is only the gui to mplayer, mplayer is the thing that needs to be from packman
http://packman.links2linux.org/package/mplayer/757049
and it was updated yesterday, do the console command I wrote above and smplayer from that other repo should work too
there is an smplayer in packman but it looks like they have problems building it for LEAP and TW (I have under LEAP and got it from packman)
http://packman.links2linux.org/package/smplayer
edit
the current version of smplayer seams to use mpv instead of the old mplayer, but that needs to be from packman too
http://packman.links2linux.org/package/mpv

Hi
Which is correct, there is no smplayer for Tumbleweed… it’s not
enabled to build…

So are you saying i can’t get smplayer to work in tunbleweed
smplayer is just a frontend to mpv you need to do what I said and get mpv from packman (do zypper dup --from 5) it’s build for TW
http://packman.links2linux.org/package/mpv/758297
I just checked and my smplayer comes from the kde:extra repo and it works fine
or better said smplayer is not a player it’s a user interface for a 3rd party player (mpv or mplayer) thet 3rd party player needs to be from packman, where smplayer comes from is not that important it’s even available from the main oss repo
I’m unclear to what this is supposed to do. How does this help me get smplayer to work
I did the two commands you gave me… it put it to 90. so i have to get this in the link here. Thank you I_A
A couple of days ago I started getting a “OOPS SOMETHING WENT WRONG” too. When finally got around at looking at it, I discovered that the oops message also gave further information (<-- this wasn’t obvious at first) that the multimedia engine was not set … this required going to Options > Preferences > General (left column) > General tab > Multimedia engine dropdown selection … set as mpv and all is well again.
Why this error occurred I have no idea, because I had it set on mpv previously. Shrugs.
Well i did what you said put those 2 command in terminal and the link you gave me got those 3 files installed smplayer and still doesn’t work.
let me take a look thanks for this tip will let you know if this is it
