SMF File creation/conversion

openSuse 12.3
KDE 4.10.5

I have gotten a bug in my mind to start up again with my keyboard with one specific song.

I think that I can probably find the song somewhere in midi format but my keyboard says that it can import files in a “SMF” format 0, format only.

They might as well be talking Swahili to me, but some further readings seem to say that I will need either a sequencer or a midifile format converter.

Do such critters exist within opensuse/KDE ?
I took a look in the multi-media-Sound Editing section of the applications and there was one that sounded promising so I clicked on it.
It seemed to fire up ok, but when I tried to do a “File open”, the app disappeared.
The app is Kwave.

So, what can I do ?

thanks

midi should be supported IF the hardware (sound cad/chip) supports it.

What is the application name that is used to open midi files.

When I left click on a .mid file, opensuse does not know what to do with it.

kmid maybe

Let’s see, Audacity and Rosegarden come to mind. Also TuxGuitar and i
also found MuScore.

I think all of these talk midi.

Just toss “linux songwriting” at any search engine.
