Smb4k issue - The search cannot be finished successfully when searching for a specific name

Hi guys,
I put computer name into the “search item” and hit Enter. This give me an error:

The search cannot be finished successfully

/var/lib/samba/gencache.tbd is read-only. Should I change it?
/etc/samba/dhcp.conf really does not exist. Checked.

Any ideas?
Is YOUR smb4k working?
How do you mount your Samba drives? How do you browse you home networks?
Alternatives to smb4k?
Note: Dolphin/KDE KIO way is not a good alternative, since most applications cannot handle KIO paths. Namely LibreOffice, anything Gnome based, command line utilities.

A bit of off-topic note

I have constant problems with Samba, mostly on client side (smb4k) but also with server side. Starting from hostname resolution, invisible computes, security issues (sudo) when mounting, computer hanging when shut off (waiting very long to get mounted drives to unmount), instability when Samba server shuts with my system still having mounted remote drives. Currently Windows boxes does not see my home Samba server and from my laptop I am able to mount only directly via IP address (I have it as a bookmark in smb4k, but this is not the point). I spent so much time investigating various Samba/home network issues.

This happens across my computers and different other distros (namely Ubuntu).

If we really want to linux spread more, beyond 1-2%, beyond IT geeks and computer specialists, THIS MUST BE ADDRESSED.

I’m getting exactly the same error when executing a search with smb4k and I have got no idea why. Any help appreciated!
