Smart + proxy + port ?

Hello

how to make smart use proxy:8080 and do over port 80?
Here, proxy is allowing passage only through port 80. Now as is, smart cannot access net.
thanks

I don’t get it: What’s the purpose of a proxy when the app doesn’t use it? How do you configure that in your browser?
Anyway, you’d set a proxy in smart with
smart config --set http-proxy=http://proxyIP:port
Maybe this helps

well, doesn’t work well
when I do as you told, it enters proxy but doesnt download anything.
If I use version with username:password@proxy:port is dead also
I dont know if smart can be made to use system settings also

never got it to work with our proxy with authentication. Which doesn’t mean much <G>

Are you on Opensuse 11? If so, why don’t you use Yast? It works flawlessly with our Proxy.

Uwe

Well, yes, yast is working, zypper also… but I want smart to work also…
…and I like smart

Well, maybe if I have time tomorrow at work. Out of the box I have no idea how to authenticate to a proxy with Smart.
And yes, I like Smart, too, but with zypper/Yast in Opensuse 11, I never looked back.
