I installed Opensuse 11.4. And now the Smart Card Reader (Kobil Kaan Advanced) for Homebanking doesnt work any more. After 5 seconds its inactive.
Reason: there is a power off after 5 seconds since pcsc 1.6.5:
[Muscle] pcsc-lite: Card auto power on and off](http://lists.drizzle.com/pipermail/muscle/2010-October/008647.html)
Ludovic Rousseau blog: Card auto power on and off
At the moment i deleted the 11.4 packages for pcsc and installed the 11.3 Packages:
libpcsclite1, pcsc-ccid, pcsc-lite, pcsc-lite-devel
software.opensuse.org: Search Results
Now installed:
pcsc-ccid-1.3.11-5.2.x86_64
libpcsclite1-1.5.5-6.2.x86_64
pcsc-lite-devel-1.5.5-6.2.x86_64
pcsc-lite-1.5.5-6.2.x86_64

actually, 11.4 has not been released to the public yet, i think you
have RC 2 (second release candidate)…
anyway, it sounds like you should log a bug against this still not
released software…just posting in this forum is NOT a bug report, it
must go into bugzilla, here:
http://en.opensuse.org/Submitting_Bug_Reports
too bad you didn’t find and log this problem before 11.4 went gold
master (this week)…

No, this is the new default behaviour of pcsc since version 1.6.5.
I posted this as a tipp for other people, if they have the same problem.
so, by default you can’t use the card reader with the program code
included in openSUSE 11.4…
so, you will use the 11.3 packages on 11.4…and beyond ??
and that is not a bug which needs to be fixed? cool.

I think its more a problem between the homebanking program i used and pcsc. If i read the howto from pcsc correct, then the homebanking program must power on the card with a pcsc command.
I posted the information to the manufacturer of the program. Will see what they say.

good luck…right now i’m able to access my bank(s) and do what needs
to be done…but it changes from time to time when they suddenly (and
usually without warning) change the intrusive java app they require me
to interact with…
sometimes it just quits working…until i can learn which java VM it
might work with…sigh, i had no access from November until January
(which took a move from openSUSE 10.3 to 11.3 to completely solve…)

As i said: No bug.
From the manufacturer of my homebanking program i’ve got a test version and this works perfectly together with this new behaviour.
